Porches

We  love visiting this pottery and always come away with something beautiful. The pottery itself is about 2KM out side the town. There is plenty of parking free, so you can take as much time as you like browsing the show rooms, watching the potters hand paint the pottery before it goes into the kiln to be fired, or eating a delicious meal at the Bar Bacchus, which is just to your right of the show rooms steps, you can also access it via the show rooms. This very old working pottery was established in 1968 by the world renowned Irishman Patrick Swift and the portages artist Lima de Freitas. In fact the plaque on the main gates was generously reproduced for me and now hangs over the fire place at home. If you do visit I recommend you buy the Porches Pottery book, it is a real in depth journey of the Swift family and the potteries beginning.
